Begin Your Journey to Happiness

About me:

My name is Luis, I am a registered Mental Health Nurse as my core profession since 2014 and annotated as an Independent non-medical prescriber. I initially started practicing psychopharmaceutic and talking therapy via the NHS since 2016. During my time within healthcare, I have worked with a wide range of clients from various demographics such as age, gender, and race etc. Additionally, I have trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of a talking therapy which helps people who may be feeling low, depressed or even worried and/or experiencing panic attacks.

As part of my experience and expertise working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist I have diagnosed and treated such clients with diagnosis such as:

  • Depression- some examples of how you might feel can be low in mood, tearful or irritable, having thoughts to hurting yourself or that everyone will be better off without you, low self-esteem or feeling hopeless/helpless, excessive or lack of sleeping and/or losing interest in the things you used to enjoy.

  • Anxiety Disorders- Some examples of how you might feel can be a sense of dread or fear (prefering to be alone due to fear), experiencing a panic attack (Feeling  so frightening with panic that you feel you might faint or that you are going to die), difficulty concentrating, feeling restless and irritable, you may withdraw from seeing friends and family (avoiding any situation where they have to make social contact), or physically experience shortness of breath, stomach aches or difficulty falling or staying asleep.

  • Borderline Personality Disorders- Some examples of how you might feel is having extreme emotional mood swings, explosive anger, chronic feelings of emptiness, experiencing a fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, possible self-harm and acting impulsively or self-destructive behaviours.

  • Psychosis- Someone might experience hearing, seeing, smelling, feeling, and tasting things that do not exist. In addition, delusional symptoms may include having beliefs that something is happening when it is not the reality.

  • Addictions- The main symptoms for someone with an addiction may experience varies depending on the type of addiction. Someone addicted to substances or risky behaviours, they will continue to use the substances or engage in the addictive behaviour, even though they might be aware of the harm it can cause or when clear evidence of harm is apparent.

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)- Someone might find it hard to concentrate, or they may have a very short attention span(causing them to fall behind on work etc), always on the go as if driven by a motor (talking excessively or climbing the walls/furniture), they may also be forgetful and lose track of time because they are not focusing on what they are doing (making careless mistakes on their work or everyday life).

I ensure that I practice in a client centred way using various treatment modalities tailored uniquely to you so you can live a more happily fulfilled life. I do understand and appreciate some clients might feel nervous or scared about having therapy for various reasons. However, I do wish to reassure you that I am non-judgemental, understanding, and compassionate, which has allowed me to work successfully with a diverse range of people in therapy (e.g., regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, or gender). These treatment modalities include the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing along with Medication treatment.

During the sessions we will explore when you are experiencing any of these and what might be the possible causes initially. Afterwards, during our sessions I will help you to change the way you think, and in doing so will help to improve how you feel. I mainly offer therapy sessions virtually however, there are instances where this has been done by telephone and on rare occasions face to face.

Anonymous Testimony

"Luis supported me through a very difficult time in my personal life. I had low self esteem yet he quickly gained my trust and helped me work through a variety of topics. His listening skills are amazing as he'd remember small details between sessions over a number of months, which reinforced the feeling that I was really being heard, something I hadn't felt in a long time. He also explained concepts and ideas in a really simple way so they stuck and I could apply them in an ongoing way in my life. My life feels transformed and I feel much more equipped to face the future and whatever it may bring."

Anonymous Testimony

"I came to Luis at a low point in my life. I was very unhappy and was on the brinks of giving up. However, after the first session I felt reassured he understood me. the following sessions were centred around teaching me life skills which has helped me in various ways in my life."

Areas of Support

Here is a synopsis of how LPMG Therapeutic Services can help you.

Psychiatric Evaluation

Psychiatric evaluation is required to gather important information about you or your loved one’s mental health. This assessment is detailed and comprehensive to identify possible triggers and what is maintaining the problem.  This report is useful to formulate a proper diagnosis and devise a treatment plan that works. This report is also beneficial to share with other professionals if you wished at a later date.

In Adult talking therapy problems are broken down into 5 key areas which includes: Situations, Thoughts, Emotions, Physical Feelings and Behaviour. The main treatment modality is CBT however, depending on individual needs during treatment I may draw upon different psychological approaches to assist with your recovery.

Young Adult Psychotherapy

In young people, talking therapy can be very similar to adults however, differs due to the life stage that the individual is at. During my extensive experience within Childrens and Adolescent Mental Health Services in the NHS I have learnt ways to not only engage young people but also formulate and offer evidence-based treatment that have been proven to work.

Psychopharmacology

It is recommended for most treatment of mental health disorders to trial talking therapy as first line treatment which is a service I offer. However, there are times when an individual is not responding as well to first line treatment. Therefore, like in the NHS medication to work along side talking therapy is required. At LPMG Therapeutic Services this is something that can also be offered as part of a treatment package to help you lead a much-fulfilled life.
